According to The Daily News of Galveston County Texas, the town is all set to welcome as many as 600,000 bikers this weekend.
The event's promoters promise it will be bigger and better than ever. They estimated 600,000 people will cross the causeway to take in the free concerts, bike-related vendor booths and riding demonstrations that go with the show.
This year, the rally will include the first ever Lady Riders Conference at the Galveston Island Convention Center. The gathering will be hosted by a panel representing the growing number of women who ride their own bikes.

Second Toys For Tots Motorcycle Ride called a success
This is one of the reason I love bikers! They will ALWAYS find a way to help a needy kid.
Hundreds of shiny, roaring motorcycles were out in full force for a worthy cause on Saturday morning.
The motorcyclists participated in the 2007 Toys for Tots Motorcycle Ride, and according to Chris Gorman, executive vice president of Tango Transport Inc., one of the sponsors of the event, it was a true success.
"I couldn't be more pleased," Gorman said. "This event is so worthy because it provides toys for the less fortunate."
When I read this I can't help but wonder how many of these bikers are still rebuilding their own lives after Katrina, and yet they don't hesitate to come out and contribute to this very worthy cause.
When I lived in Arizona, there was a biker organized charity fund raiser almost every single weekend (not as many in July and August but still some).
He did it! Six days after crashing and dislocating a shoulder in a final practice session at Donington Park, Billy 'The Whizz' Baxter shrugged off the pain to return to the Leicestershire track and ride into the headlines as the first blind biker in the world to complete a solo lap of an international race circuit.

My Letter to SFO regarding Parking at International Terminal
Saturday evening (10-20-2007), 13 motorcycles arrived at SFO ridden by members of the Patriot Guard Riders to meet two US soldiers returning from Iraq (one of whom had been injured).
While greeting and saying farewell to other soldiers has never been a problem (due to motorcycle friendly parking in the main parking lot), this experience was anything but acceptable.
The first problem we encountered was ticket dispensers at the garage entrance that do not recognize motorcycles. This was aggravated by the signs indicating such an requiring us to call for an attendant because the attendants apparently have zero training regarding what to do.
After eventually being admitted "without tickets" we rode to the top floor where crammed up-to four motorcycles into each spot so as not to be inconsiderate of others.
After greeting our returning heroes, we proceeded to the garage exit to pay. There we discovered un-trained cashiers who not only charged us $9 per bike (ignoring the "per-stall" rule on their signs), but took about 15 minutes just to figure out what to do, all the time on the phone to a supervisor who was not interested in customer service. I will also mention that during this time, the exit to the entire garage was blocked by all this confusion and not only caused a safety hazard, but also inconvenienced many other patrons of this garage.
When the contract for International Parking comes up for renewal, please remember that motorcycles are increasingly using your facilities and that these situations are not tolerable.
PGR Welcome Home SFO 10-20-2007
Well the video came out bad and some of the photos are worse, but as promised, here are the pics.
Note to anyone who wants to park their motorcycle at SFO. While I have had zero problems in the regular terminal parking, the International Terminal is a nightmare. The gates that issue tickets as you arrive do NOT recognize motorcycles. You have to call for an attendant, but they have zero training and have no idea what they are supposed to do. Like wise, when you go to leave, you will be charged for a full parking space (even if you crammed 4 bikes into each space) so you may as well take up a full space per bike. Finally, since you do NOT have a ticket (due to lack of training of earlier attendant) be prepared to pay a hefty price to get out (due to lack of training of cashier). All-in-all a very unstaisfactory experience.
Welcome Home Matthew Sheedy
Just 3 months after escorting Matthew to SFO for his send-off to Iraq, we were able to welcome him back home (more in one piece than less).
About 13 motorcyles and probaly thirty family and friends were on hand at SFO to welcome home Matthew and his buddy Joe Quirarte. Matthew was injured during a fire fight in Iraq and Joe Quirarte, who is an Afghanistan veteran, is home on-leave before heading to Iraq (I think I got that right -- email me corrections).
Matthew's injury, while not life threatening in any way, is still going to rquire a lot of work and patience to overcome. As badly as this brave young man wants to rejoin is team in Iraq, I suspect that is not going to happen.
However, we are greatful for your service and VERY glad to have you home, safe and sound.
I'll have photos and some video posted here shortly.
Today we rode with the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to Novato California to pay final respects to CPL Nicholas Paul Olson (22), United States Army, killed last month by an IED while serving in Iraq.
I counted 24 motorcycles plus a couple of cages.
During part of the ceremony I saw a biker approaching that I did not recognize (except he had an A.B.A.T.E. patch on his vest). He stopped and watched us for a moment, then turned and left. I don't know if he was put off by us because he felt out of place or if he was overcome emotionally (which happens) but if he reads this, or if you have ever thought of joining us, next time PLEASE DO!
These are the only photos I had the presence of mind to take while we were there.
Also, thanks to Patrick and Wendy Moore for coming and joining us. Patrick is a Viet Nam veteran and he and Wendy live down the street from the school where the ceremonies were held. When they realized what was going on, they came straight over to offer their respects even though they didn't know a soul there. Thank you!
